Marbles Reunited [1] is running a competition to create images that promote the return of the Parthenon Sculptures to Greece.
On offer as prizes are two tickets to the opera in Athens about the Elgin Marbles: “Opus Elgin: The destruction of the Parthenon”

In recent months, a number of activities have occurred, all with the aim of raising the public’s awareness with regards to the matter of the reunification of the Parthenon sculptures. A noteworthy effort, and an event which promises to be memorable is the upcoming opera in two acts “Opus Elgin: The destruction of the Parthenon”.
Raising public awareness is paramount to the cause and Marbles Reunited wholeheartedly support noteworthy efforts in doing so. In aid of this event, and with the cooperation of Imeros for Culture, we have decided to both inspire people further and encourage them to attend this event.

The world premiere of the opera performance “Opus Elgin: The destruction of the Parthenon” will take place at the Athens Concert Hall “Megaron Mousikis”, Alexandra Triandi Hall on May 29th, 2012. The opera was composed by Theodore Stathis and it will be directed by the world known director Peter Tiboris. The performance aims at mobilizing and raising awareness of European public opinion for the return of the Parthenon Marbles to their place of origin on the occasion of the Olympic Games that will be held in London. It is organized by the non for profit organization “Imeros for culture”.
The opera “Opus Elgin: The Destruction of the Parthenon” deals with the issue of the illegal occupation and looting of the Parthenon sculptures under a new perspective, for those who are ignorant of either ignore the whole problem, or those who oppose the return of the stolen masterpieces which still remain in the Duveen Room in London. The opera consists of two acts and comprising nine scenes and lasting approximately two hours. Most of it takes place on the Acropolis, until the finale which takes place initially in the hall of the British Museum, where the stolen marbles are today, and ends via teleconference in the new Acropolis Museum in Athens.
The opera is directed by Christopher Christofis, stars Nina Lotsari (soprano), Dimitris Kavrakos (bass), Helen Davou (mezzo soprano), Dionysius Sourbis (baritone), and a whole host of other talented artists. The choir compromises by Marie-Ntimova Roropoulou (soprano), Christina Karamaltidou (alto), Elias Tiliakos (baritone) and Fanis Roropoulos (tenor). The choreography is by Ersi Pitta and the costumes by Giannis Varelas.
