…….working towards the return of the Elgin Marbles to Athens
May I ask if Lord Elgin was the sculptor of these works. According to written references about these marbles they were created by Phidias and placed on the Parthenon. Hence Parthenon Marbles. Why the need of a double identity about these marbles. Unfortunately the international press has been using predominantly Elgin Marbles to shift away the connection of these marbles from their place of origin. It appears that the arguement about returning the marbles to Greece will not be won. However the Greek Government and International Committees should firstly challenge the double identity of these marbles. At least keeping one name regarding these marbles gives justice to the Ancient Greek Spirit which indeed does not require promotional identities for its greatness. Thanks
